The Story to College Person of the Week is Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden!
Dr. Biden was born on June 5, 1951 in Hammonton, NJ and grew up in Willow Grove, PA. Her love of literature and education led her to pursue and receive four degrees: a BA at University of Delaware, an MA at Villanova University, an M.Ed at West Chester University, and a Doctorate of Education at University of Delaware. Dr. Biden has been teaching for over three decades. She is currently a Professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College, and her teaching post makes her the first Second Lady to hold a paying job during her husband’s tenure. As Second Lady. Dr. Biden hosted the first-ever White House Summit on Community College in 2010. She is also an active member of Delaware Boots on the Ground, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping military families. You can read her speech from the Democratic National Convention here.
